Shellbank House

The design of the residence addresses the unique characteristics of the steeply sloping site, leveraging its northern orientation to maximise views of Middle Harbour. The architectural layout divides the house both vertically and horizontally, creating distinct zones that enhance functionality and spatial organisation. This thoughtful configuration not only contributes to a visually cohesive façade that aligns with the streetscape but also facilitates a variety of perspectives and experiences throughout the interior spaces. Each level and room is purposefully designed to frame specific views, encouraging a dynamic interaction with the surrounding landscape.

The master bedroom dramatically cantilevers out over the pool, with an upper-level deck located above, accessing expansive views and creating a feeling of openness off the main living space.

The strong central alignment begins at the stone clad garage, accessed off the street, with a pool and private elevated lawn above.

To the rear of the upper level a much needed connection to the ground plane is provided to the south side of the house, accessed off a secondary living space and providing views to established vegetation.
