Minimbah House
The design aims to reconcile the existing structure with its unique topography, enhancing both connectivity and functionality. By reconfiguring the access points and floor levels, we seek to bridge the gap between the internal environments and the natural landscape.
Incorporating an open-plan layout will allow for a seamless flow of movement while maximising the panoramic views of Sailor's Bay. Large windows and sliding doors will be strategically placed to bring in natural light and promote a strong visual connection with the outdoors.
Landscaping interventions will further integrate the house into its setting, utilising native plant species to soften hard edges and reinforce the relationship with the surrounding terrain. Emphasising outdoor living, terraces and balconies will extend the usable space, inviting residents to experience the beauty of the bay from different vantage points.
“From the outset, our experience working with Castlepeake was collaborative, thoughtful and enjoyable. Mark, Kelly and Pip have all gone above and beyond to ensure a fantastic outcome for our family home… We cannot recommend them more highly.”

The main living level is reconfigured to provide a north-south link through the site, allowing access to an elevated northern viewing deck and a protected southern living and pool area at the rear ground plane.
The uppermost bedroom level is sliced into 2 sections through a central hallway skylight void which provides much needed natural light deep into the square form and delineates the bedroom arrangements.
The external form of the existing is largely retained with a series of off-form concrete horizontals protruding forward to break down the large vertical mass and finer scale elements including external sun control louvres and steel balustrading completing the houses renewal.
